Yahoo News Ford Recalls More Than 600,000 Vehicles over Rearview Cameras
Ford is recalling 620,246 U.S.-market vehicles to fix a problem with a rearview camera that may leave a blank or distorted screen.
Affected vehicles were built from late 2019 to mid-2020 and include the Escape, Explorer, and Expedition SUVs; F-150, Ranger, and Super Duty pickups; and Edge, Mustang, and Transit. Lincoln Corsair, MKX, and Nautilus vehicles are also included.
No accidents or injuries have been reported as a result, Ford said in a statement.
Ford announced today that it will recall 620,246 vehicles built in U.S. assembly plants between October and November 2019 and May to June 2020. All are 2020 models. The problem is a malfunctioning rearview camera that could leave a blank screen or a distorted image. Ford said it will replace the cameras and will start notifying dealers and customers on November 7.
The problem is a poor electrical connection, according to the recall notice posted on the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) website. Affected vehicles are 2020 models of the Ford Escape, Expedition, and Explorer; the Ford Edge, Mustang, and Transit; and the Ford F-150, Super Duty, and Ranger pickups. The Lincoln Corsair, MKX, and Nautilus are also included. NHTSA and Ford only gave a total number and did not release estimates as to how many of each of these vehicle models are being recalled. Owners can check the NHTSA recall website to see if their vehicle is affected.
No accidents or injuries have been reported as a result of the problem, Ford said today.
