Forensic officers scour Paisley flats amid attempted murder probe

Police have launched an attempted murder probe after a man was found unresponsive at a block of flats in Paisley.

Officers were called to George Street in the town at 11.55pm on Friday.

The 40-year-old man was rushed to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, where he remains in a serious condition. A 31-year-old man was arrested in connection with the incident.

Forensic officers remain at the scene on Saturday as a probe continues.

The entrance into a block of flats has been cordoned off with a police officer pictured inside the building, reports Glasgow Live.

Detective inspector Gordon Smith said: “Enquiries are ongoing and officers are appealing for anyone with any information which may assist with the investigation to get in touch.

“If you have doorbell cameras, private CCTV or a dashcam, please review your footage and bring anything of significance to our attention.

“We would also like to speak to those who assisted officers in locating the injured man. If you have not spoken to officers yet, please contact us.”
