Forget sequins - feathers are the most stylish adornment this festive season

The Christmas party season is always inundated with sequins. And while we all love a dash of glitzy detail, the embellishment has become just a tad monotonous in recent years.

Thankfully, 2017 has now offered us a refreshing alternative (and it's fabulous).

Thanks to the likes of Prada, Yves Saint Laurent, Balenciaga, Sonia Rykiel and J.W Anderson (to name just a few) feathers are the elaborate new way to jazz up an outfit.

From plume embellished dresses at Prada, to fluffy yeti boots at Saint Laurent - this season anything can be updated with a flurry of feminine feathers.

The retro 1920s trend has successfully made its way into mainstream in recent months due to a plethora of stylish celebs showing their support for the glamorous old school style.

Most recently, the one and only Meryl Steep stepped out in a chic feather-trim grey coat by Prada, oozing elegance and sophistication.

Beyonce has also shared her take on the trend, donning a very Christmas-appropriate full feathered dress by Nina Ricci. Meanwhile, Lady Gaga opted for an equally head-turning number, mixing the must-have embellishment with a bright yellow hue.

The look seems to be a favourite with several generations of stars as Zendaya, Kendall Jenner, Rihanna and Hailey Baldwin are also loving the trendy trim.
