Former Big Brother contestant Rebekah Shelton was the victim of a death hoax on Twitter.
Earlier this morning a tweet from her verified Twitter account read: ‘We’re sorry to inform everyone of the sad news that our wonderful and lovely Rebekah died unexpectedly on Wednesday night.’
Naturally, fans were saddened by the news as the Twitter tributes poured in.
However, in a bizarre twist, Rebekah, 32, tweeted a response to the claim – denying that she was in fact dead.
‘I’m not dead!!!!!! Please stop spreading this news!!!!! My lawyer is already working on this and this person who wants to spoil my happiness is going to pay for it!!!!!’ she angrily captioned a video she uploaded.
In the video, she asked people to ‘please stop spreading this news that I am dead because obviously I’m not.’
‘I’ve been through hell today because someone used my Twitter account to write that stupid status about me,’ Rebekah said.
Without saying who had accessed her account, the former reality star told her followers that ‘this person can’t accept the fact I am happy.’

‘I’m on holiday, I’m in Arabia, and I’m not dead,’ she ended the video message on.
As quickly as the initial news had spread, the revelation saw people quickly correcting the false story and wishing Rebekah well.
Absolutely disgusted someone would do that. Glad you’re well @MissRShelton .

And fans were eager to condemn the hacker for their cruel prank.

Rebekah has vowed to take legal action again whoever it was who got into her account and sent the malicious tweet.
Back in 2009, Rebekah featured in 10 of Big Brother – four years before her gender reassignment surgery – as Rodrigo Lopes. She finished fifth on that series of the show, reaching the final and losing to eventual winner Sophie Reade.
