Former Britain’s Next Top Model star Talulah-Eve Brown has revealed she was "threatened with an acid attack" as she received transphobic abuse on Twitter.

The series’ first transgender star, 23, took to social media to reveal the extent of abuse levelled at her in recent weeks.

She wrote in a tweet, shared with more than 5,000 followers: “I'm never really one to go on and on about the trolling I receive but when people threaten me with an 'acid attack' it's just hard to fathom what goes on in people's minds in order to say sickening things like that.”

The message was shared alongside a screenshot of offensive messages she had received.

One merely said “acid attack” along with an emoji of an angry face.

Others jumped to the model’s defence and said: “Are you serious? Acid attack? You need to grow up. Haven't you got kids? Real role model you are.”

A source close to Talulah told The Sun: “People can be so hateful and it can get quite ugly. She's used to being yelled at in the streets, even before she became famous.

“This acid threat has definitely knocked her for six. We've all seen how it's become something of a trend.”
