Vladimir Weiss has been branded a 'f****** p****' by a former Celtic star in an explosive rant.

The Rangers cult hero was back in Glasgow last night as he skippered the Hoops' opening Champions League opponents Slovan Bratislava. The Slovakian champions earned their spot amongst Europe's elite after negotiating the gruelling qualifying stages but Brendan Rodgers and his troops blew them away at Parkhead after thumping them 5-1 win, much to the delight of Mark Wilson who admitted he was 'buzzing' by the result against the former Ibrox man.

Speaking on Open Goal, he said: "He was a p***k, Weiss. He was. Remember it was that period where El Hadji Diouf and all that was there and they had a squad with some individuals that were just...

"Remember Sammy (Georgios Samaras) missed the penalty at Ibrox, Rangers won the league and then in the celebrations, I'm sure he set up the penalty, into McGregor and he played it out and they all started celebrating. He was a f****** d*** so he was. I was buzzing. I couldn't believe he was captain of them last night! But I was buzzing."

Liam Scales got the hosts up and running by heading home from an Arne Engels corner. The home crowd were made to wait until the second half to double their advantage - but it came almost instantly - as Kyogo Furuhashi turned the ball home from close range after excellent work down the wing from Nicolas Kuhn.

Engels - who also scored from the spot on his first start against Hearts - superbly scored from 12-yards once again before Daizen Maeda and Adam Idah added further strikes following a wonder strike by Bratislava defender Kevin Wimmer.

Speaking after the game, record signing Engels said: "With the crowd at the beginning, it was exceptional – a sound like I’d never heard before. It’s indescribable actually, so I really enjoyed it and to get a victory like this is more than deserved.

"Of course it was nice to get a goal but the most important thing was that we grabbed a win, and we did that exceptionally well. But we still need to keep on working and I still need to keep on working to improve.

“It’s going better and better every day in training. We’re working on the relationships so it is only going to keep improving, but I’m really pleased with the guys. They’re helping me all the time before and after the game, telling me some details so it will only get better.

“I still cannot believe what I’m doing and I still need a few more weeks to get a feeling and get everything sorted in my head, but I’m now here to keep on going, keep on performing and that’s what I’m going to do.”
