Former Corrie star Kym Marsh issues plea to TV bosses after surprise discovery about new role

Kym Marsh has shared a career update with her fans but she's admitted there was a little bit of disappointment over her new TV role.

The 48-year-old former Coronation Street actress joined Channel 4 Sunday Brunch duo Tim Lovejoy and Simon Rimmer today (January 26) to chat about her new show, The Weekend Travel Show, which airs on Channel 5.

On the programme, she teams up with TV buddy Richard Arnold to delve into memorable vacation experiences, yet the twist is they don't actually jet off to any exotic destinations.

Instead, they are confined to discussing celeb getaways and travel advice from the less glamorous location of a Camden studio.

While on Sunday Brunch, Kym's enthusiasm dipped slightly as she explained how she and Good Morning Britain star Richard won't be taking any trips abroad.

Tim said: "So we have to explain this, there are videos in between of celebrities going away on holiday and talking about their experiences while you and Richard talk about travel as an experience."

Simon jumped in to query, "Do you get to go on any trips? " to which Kym responded that there won't be any such trips for them.

Recalling her initial reaction when offered the gig, Kym cheerfully recounted telling Richard: "Oh, let's do it let's do it".

However, their excitement was short-lived when they found out that the actual set-up would be stationary. She continued: "They said, 'no you're going to be in Camden in a studio and we're going to send off these celebrities doing some amazing holidays' and we were like 'oh.'"

Kym mentioned: "But I have actually said to them, next time if it goes ahead, we want to be away. We want to be away somewhere! But it is great fun because we do sit and we do chat about holidays,". Her travel show received criticism from some viewers who expressed their opinions on X.

So us commoners can look at places we can't afford? What about the damage air travel does to the environment? "Sunday Brunch airs every Sunday at 10am on Channel 4.
