Former Corrie star Paula Lane addresses David moving on from Kylie
Former Coronation Street star Paula Lane has addressed the storyline which saw David Platt moving on from his late wife Kylie.
Lane debuted on the soap as Kylie back in 2010, with the character marrying David a year later. The actor decided to leave Corrie in 2016, with Kylie being killed off as she was murdered by Clayton Hibbs.
David was grief-stricken following Kylie's death, but he later found a new partner when he married Shona Ramsey - who happened to be Clayton's mum - in 2019.

Lane has now spoken to Inside Soap about David's current partner, saying: "I think they're a great match. They're certainly different to David and Kylie, but I think she really compliments him. And I think Kylie would've definitely wanted the best for David."
Though Lane exited Corrie many years ago, the actor recently returned to the world of soaps as she joined fellow ITV soap Emmerdale, with the star making her debut as Ella Forster back in January.
Naturally, comparisons have been made between the two characters, with Lane suggesting that Ella and Kylie could be good friends.
"I think they'd be forgiving of each other’s past. Although, I've always said that Ella wouldn't stand for any of Kylie's self-pity and 'woe is me' attitude.

"Kylie was a bit feistier than Ella - Ella shrinks more just because she's had to protect herself with her past. But if you were to put them in a room together, I think they'd manage to have a decent conversation."
"I think Ella is always at risk of the past coming back to rear its head," she added about Ella's upcoming storylines. "I think she's never quite safe, let's put it that way. And it can go any way at the moment - that’s the beauty of it! I'm on my toes as much as the audience."
Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
