Former Coventry City favourite Fankaty Dabo has found himself a new club, joining Scottish Championship side Raith Rovers on a short-term deal until January.

The 28-year-old has been looking for another club after being released by Forest Green Rovers in the summer following the club's drop out of the Football League, and moves north of the border as a free agent signing.

Announcing the signing on Monday, Raith said they were “thrilled” to add the “seasoned” right-back, while former Sky Blues star Dabo said: “I’m delighted to be here and looking forward to getting back to playing and enjoying my football again. I’ve had a great first day with the boys and I can’t wait to get properly started.”

Coach Neill Collins commented: “Fankaty has played a key role in a very strong Coventry City side only a year ago. His physical attributes of pace and power will add another dimension to our squad and I’m sure the fans will enjoy watching his impact in the final third. We are delighted that Fankaty has made the decision to join us at Stark’s Park.”

The defender is still thought of fondly by Sky Blues fans, particularly for his contribution in his first season with the club, helping City to the League One title in 2019/20. Dabo’s biggest challenge on promotion to the Championship was staying fit, with the former Chelsea prospect suffering a number of niggling hamstring injuries that held him back.

His last game for the club was when he went on as an extra-time substitute in the play-off final at Wembley when, sadly, he missed his penalty in a sudden death shootout which resulted in Luton Town being promoted to the Premier League.
