Former EastEnders' star Shaun Williamson for Celebrity Big Brother?

Yesterday it was reported that the official Celebrity Big Brother line-up had been leaked, leaving the show in chaos.

Although it was said at the time that all of the celebs on the list are confirmed to be going into the famous house next week, there were only nine stars – meaning that we will still have a few surprises on launch night.

One of the new names to be thrown into the mix is former EastEnders’ star Shaun Williamson, with The Sun reporting that the 51-year-old actor has now signed on the dotted line.

Shaun played beloved Barry Evans in the BBC One soap for ten years from 1994 until 2004, he also secured himself a spot in pop culture thanks to his role playing himself in Ricky Gervais sitcom Extras.

Speaking to The Sun, a source explained: “Celebrity Big Brother bosses are delighted to have Shaun as part of the line-up. He played an iconic character and everyone recognises him.

“Soaps fans will love him in the house and he’s going to go down a storm with viewers.”

It has also been reported today that Coronation Street actress Shobna Gulati is in talks with producers to enter the famous house.

It was revealed yesterday that Sarah Harding, Pete Wicks, John Leslie, Sandi Bogle, and Jemma Lucy are among the celebrities to be taking part this series, with show bosses left devastated by the line-up leaking.

An insider said at the time: “This is a nightmare for producers. They only want the housemates to know who they’ll be living with once they walk into the house.

“Now they will have the chance to find out about each other online. It could ruin the dynamic producers were hoping for.”

Celebrity Big Brother kicks off on Tuesday 1st August at 9pm.
