Former Home & Away star Dieter Brummer dies aged 45
Home and Away actor Dieter Brummer has sadly passed away at the age of 45.
Recognised for his portrayal of Shane Parrish from 1991 to 1996 in the Australian soap, plus Troy Miller in Neighbours, Brummer ran a window-cleaning business after stepping away from the TV limelight.
A family statement in the wake of his death reads: "On behalf of my family, I post this today with a heavy heart. We lost our handsome, talented, funny, complicated and beloved Dieter on Saturday morning.
"He has left a massive hole in our lives and our world will never be the same. Our thoughts go out to all of you who knew him, loved him, or worked with him over the years. We appreciate you respecting our privacy at this terrible time."
The family also encouraged anyone affected by the news to reach out to Lifeline on 13 11 14.
The Seven Network, which airs Home and Away in Australia, also shared (via BBC): "Dieter was a much-loved Home and Away cast member and celebrated by Australian and international audiences for his award-winning portrayal of Shane Parrish.
"We send our sincere condolences to Dieter's family and friends during this very difficult time."
On Twitter, Neighbours, former cast, crew and fans have shared their tributes and reactions to this devastating news.

I'm shattered by the death of my @homeandaway brother Dieter Brummer. We spent hours together on & off set. He was caring, funny & always enthusiastic. We had to shoot the Parrish brothers boxing. He hit me so hard I lost a contact lens. We both laughed. Vale Deets. Rest easy. pic.twitter.com/Mmil9WCdme

RIP Dieter Brummer (Home & Away). Sad news today of his passing, was a really decent, hard working pleasant guy. Always sweet and kind to me and all those he worked with. Vale Dieter. pic.twitter.com/U79jRk0E9k

So sad to hear about Dieter Brummer’s death. He was an absolute ICON to us 90s kids.

Condolences to Dieter Brummer’s family, friends and colleagues.
I was a huge fan of Dieter Brummer when I was a kid - his autographed photo was framed in a special frame I made with pistachio shells when I was in hospital.
Gone too soon.https://t.co/5edd9Zvj4E— Carly Findlay OAM (she/her) (@carlyfindlay) July 26, 2021
