A former Ellesmere Port town centre bank is being turned into a dental laboratory. The plans for the vacant unit previously occupied by HSBC on Whitby Road have been rubber-stamped by Cheshire West and Chester Council.

Precedent Dental Laboratory is behind the redevelopment of the old bank, which closed in January 2023. The company, who are relocating from the Wirral, has already started work on its new base.

The planning application stated that the site will be used for the 'manufacture of dental products'. In a report recommending approval, council case officer Aisling Monaghan states: "The site was previously used as a bank, this proposal intends to change to use to a dental laboratory.

"The shop front changes proposed include two new front windows at first floor level and a new access ramp at ground floor level. On the east side elevation, an existing window will be replaced with a new window whilst there are proposed changes to the rear elevation to include two new doors and a new access ramp."

She adds: "The development is considered acceptable in principle and would not result in an unacceptable detrimental impact upon the visual character of the application site or adversely impact upon residential amenity."

Precedent Dental Laboratory states on its website that it's "a specialist prosthetics laboratory, producing acrylic, chrome and Valplast Flexible dentures" for its clients. The website adds: "We also offer a private one-hour repair service to the general public. Our dedicated fully trained team of technicians produce the best quality custom made prosthetic appliances."
