A former naval station that has been a youth hostel for more than 50 years is available for lease for the first time in decades - in the most unbelievable location.

YHA Perranporth, at Droskyn Point, was a naval station in the 1950s and despite its enviable location has remained a two-star youth hostel since. Just one minute from the South West Coastal Path, it's currently got four dorm rooms with bunk beds.

But for the first time in decades, the parish council has confirmed its current leaseholders have opted not to renew the lease meaning the hostel will be no more. This means the building will be available to other prospective business owners - but for an undisclosed price.

Described as being in "an excellent trading position" as well as undergoing a recent renovation of the internal accommodation, it's even got its own clifftop garden. Set over 1,515 square feet it's hard to believe that such a stunning location has been home to affordable accommodation for all these years.

But now that could change as Perranzabuloe Parish Council is inviting people to submit proposals for consideration about what business they would like to open there and their vision for the space. Marketed by Charterwood Commercial Property Consultants Ltd, the listing says it's "a rare opportunity" and that it's hoped the future tenant will "create a positive impact on the local community".
