A former priest has been jailed after he made indecent images of children and spoke of his sexual interest babies online.

Edmund Black, 44, was caged for 31 months after he admitted two counts of intentionally encouraging or assisting the distribution of indecent images of children, and one count of making indecent images of children.

Black frequented online conference rooms where child sex abuse was being shown between September 2015 and March of this year

In May 2016, Black also a conference room where nine videos were played, eaching showing the horrific abuse of children as young as three-months-old.

No live abuse was shown and the videos were known to investigators.

Black, of Walworth, London, also made comments during the footage about his sexual interest in babies.

His home in Great Yarmouth was raided by National Crime Agency officers in January, who recovered a laptop. It contained 201 category A images (the most severe), 176 category B, 461 category C and 10 prohibited images.

Despite being placed on bail, Black returned to the online conference room and continued to offend.

In 2013 under the name Fr Edmund Higgins, he was convicted of possessing indecent images of children. At the time he was working as a Catholic priest in Richmond, south west London.

National Crime Agency senior investigating officer Martin Ludlow said: ‘Every time these horrendous images are shared that child is victimised again and again.

‘Black has shown no remorse for any previous offences he has committed and even continued offending while on bail. He went out of his way to encourage others to view and share images.

‘We and our partners in policing do everything possible to catch people like Black. Those who commit these appalling crimes will be found and brought to justice..’
