Ex Ukip leader Henry Bolton has admitted that he is back with the woman whose texts ultimately led him to lose his job.

Mr Bolton ended his relationship with former glamour model Jo Marney, 25, when it emerged she had sent racist messages about Prince Harry’s fiancee, Meghan Markle.

However, when asked about if he was back with Ms Marney this morning, the 54-year-old ex-army officer told BBC Radio Kent: “That’s a yes.”

He went one step further and revealed that they would “perhaps” get married at some point in the future – but “it’s not a definite”.

Mr Bolton, who was elected Ukip leader five months ago, began dating Ms Marney at the end of 2017, confirming that he had split up with his wife.

But he ended their relationship when messages sent by Ms Marney that described black people as “ugly” were exposed.

The controversy about his private life led to a vote of no confidence in Mr Bolton’s leadership of Ukip and the party voted to remove him from his post on Sunday.

MEP Gerard Batten stepped in as interim leader until another leadership contest is organised.

Despite losing his job so quickly after being voted into the post, Mr Bolton insisted his political career was not over – but claimed Ukip was becoming less influential.

He added: “Ukip won’t disappear but it is already moving significantly to right.

“I think it is going to become impossible for the party to influence the Brexit debate.”
