Former Waterloo Road star Heather Peace has made her feelings known after a nanny was homophobic towards them.

Heather's wife Ellie attempted to hire somebody to look after her children through an agency, but the nanny she was trying to book refused to work for gay parents.

"Today I had a nasty shock when a nanny I was booking through an agency refused to work for a family with two mothers," Ellie wrote on Facebook.

"It took me ages to work out why I was so acutely sad and angry about this in particular. And it was because of my three wonderful children. Being judged. In this day and age. As 'lesser'. As part of an 'unsavoury family'. In Brighton of all places.

"I told the agency boss that it was a disgrace and that as long as she was employing homophobic nannies I wouldn't be using her agency. But I'm still left reeling.

"This post has made me feel slightly better. As I lie waiting for my most wonderful eldest daughter to drift off to sleep to what I can hope will be a more inclusive and less hate-filled world tomorrow. Love wins, people. Resistance is futile."

Heather shared Ellie's post and added on Twitter that they needed a nanny because Ellie is recovering from an operation.

"I'm raging," she added.

Heather played Nikki Boston on Waterloo Road between 2012 and 2014. She has also had roles in Lip Service, London's Burning, and Prey.
