Fort Lauderdale Police Take Un-Roo-ly Marsupial Fugitive Into Custody

Fort Lauderdale Police had a bouncy fugitive in custody on Thursday morning, July 16, after a resident’s pet kangaroo was reported loose on the Florida city’s streets, local media said.

Police safely captured the “very friendly” kangaroo and placed it in a squad car, police said.

In this video, Sgt DeAnna Greenlaw gives an update on the situation after the kangaroo had been brought to the horse stables at the police department.

The animal will be turned over to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission (FWC), which will also investigate the incident, Greenlaw said.
