Fortnite gamer charged over assault on pregnant partner during live stream

A 26-year-old Australian man has been charged after live streaming a video of himself allegedly hitting his pregnant partner while playing a video game.

The man, from Sydney’s south west, was using Amazon-owned streaming service Twitch to broadcast himself playing Fortnite on Sunday.

Police were called to the home when other players reported witnessing the alleged assault.

Police arrived to find two girls aged three and 20 months and a 21-year-old pregnant woman, who was not seriously injured but distressed and shaken by the incident.

During the video, the man, who goes by the username MrDeadMoth yells "can you not? I said I'll be out soon," before getting up from his chair in front of the monitor.

"No computer, I'm sick of this s***," a woman's voice is heard to respond.

The man disappears from the screen, and the sound of a slap is heard, followed by crying.

The man then sits down again and resumes playing.

"You f***ing woman basher," the woman responds.

"Don't hit me in the face, don't you dare touch my face.

"You hear that, all you people there? He just hit me in the face."

The argument continues and the man gets back up from his chair. He cocks his arm and appears to hit something off camera.

The woman begins to sob and crying from what sounds like a young child can be heard in the video.

"I hope all of you people know that I'm pregnant and he just bashed me," the woman says.

"F*** off. I will be out soon, you dog. You don't pay the f***ing bills," the man responds, before continuing with the game.

He then gets up from his chair again, which is followed by a protracted wail and sobbing.

"Get out of my f***ing life," he says and sits down to play again.

When the man gets up again, more screams are heard from off camera from both a woman and a child, who yells, "Daddy, daddy!"

New South Wales police arrested the man on Sunday and charged him with common assault.

He was also served with an apprehended violence order and is due to appear in court on Thursday.

One of the videos, which has been deleted from Twitch by posted on Twitter, has been viewed 1.31 million times.
