Four drivers were arrested on suspicion of drugs offences in Cornwall. Police officers, working in St Austell, seized two vehicles and drugs as well as arresting four suspected drug drivers - one for cannabis and three for cocaine.

Sharing the incidents to social media, the Devon and Cornwall Police No Excuses road safety team said officers also dealt with insurance, MOT and licence offences on Friday, January 17. Some motorists were also stopped for being on their phones and over issues with their vehicle's tyres.

Posting to X, formerly Twitter, Devon and Cornwall Police No Excuses wrote: "Today working with @DC_RPT & @StAustellPolice we arrested 4 drug drivers (1+ cannabis & 3+ for cocaine), dealt with insurance, MOT, mobile phone, licence and tyre offences.

The account regularly shares driving related incidents from across Devon and Cornwall, in a bid to tackle the fatal five - driving offences which are most likely to cause a serious injury or fatal crash. These are speeding, not wearing a seatbelt, distracted driving, drink and drug driving, and careless driving.

Last week, the same account shared officers had stopped a van which was suspected of carrying a man wanted on harassment and theft allegations. The post added the vehicle was "stopped and driver arrested for offences - as the vehicle has not been ‘taxed’ since 2023 we have seized it on behalf of @DVLAgovuk ".
