Two parents and two of their children were killed after their car was struck by an alleged street racer when they were returning from an amusement park in Grand Prairie, Texas, on Saturday, Aug. 10, per WBAP, WFAA and KTVT. One of their other children is in critical condition.

Jessie Rosales, his wife Lorena and their children Anthony, 17, Stephanie, 13, and Angel, 6, were hit when a Dodge Charger smashed into their Chevy Traverse. Three of them died at the scene, and the fourth died at the hospital. Anthony was the sole survivor, but he remains in critical condition at the hospital as of Wednesday, Aug. 14.

The family was returning from Texas Six Flags and dinner at a Panda Express and headed back home around 8 p.m. Saturday. At the time of the accident, two drivers in red and white Dodge Chargers were allegedly racing each other when the Rosales family turned off the road onto a side street.

The red Charger then smashed into the Rosales’ car at a high speed. The family’s car flipped twice and then burst into flames. The white car fled the scene.

Yvette Acosta, a witness at a nearby gas station, captured the crash on camera. “Devastating and very hurtful because a lot of people were trying to help them, and they couldn’t get close to them,” she told KTVT.

“I haven’t been able to sleep well. Hearing them and not being able to get them out, it’s very hurtful,” Acosta added. “I wish I could help those people. It’s an emotional and tragic event.”

Jaime Mesa, 20, was identified as the alleged driver of the red car, and Anthony Morales, 22, was allegedly driving the white vehicle, police said. Both are now facing charges of racing on a highway causing death and racing on a highway causing serious bodily injury.

Mesa is also facing charges of manslaughter and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. He was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Anthony survived because he was thrown out of the car, according to a GoFundMe. The fundraiser page was created to help Anthony, and his other siblings, Jessie and Natalie, raise money for their family’s funerals, Anthony’s medical bills and any legal bills. At the time of publication, the page has raised over $56,000 — more than half of its $100,000 goal.

"His brother Jessie and sister Natalie have stepped up to get him through this physical battle in addition to all the other battles they will face,” the page description read. “This sweet sibling group has a long hard road ahead of them physically, emotionally and financially.”

The children’s aunt, Delia Rosales, told WFAA that they are “trying to see if [Anthony’s] gonna be able to survive and I just want the best for him.”

“We cannot believe it. We're still waiting for my brother to come by. He doesn't show up,” Delia said. “We were always together. Traveling together. Basically. We were all a united family."
