Four Hurt After Tourist Bus Roof Ripped Off

A tourist bus has collided with a tree in central London, shearing off the roof.

Witnesses say the roof flew off into the road on Woburn Place near Russell Square and four people are reported to have suffered minor injuries.

Joseph Whelan was on the bus with his wife and two children and described the moment as "total chaos" and "like a bomb going off".

Mr Whelen was on the bus with a wedding party from Canada and said the bride had been taken to hospital and that there was "blood all over the floor".

Pictures posted on social media showed passengers on the top deck of the Golden Tours bus and a large branch lying nearby.

Police have cordoned off the road while emergency crews attend the scene.

A Golden Tours spokesman said: "Our manager is on site as we speak. At this moment we're not aware of the exact number of causalities but we are looking into this matter."
