Four people taken to hospital after car crash closed A6 in Derbyshire
Four people have been taken to hospital following a single-vehicle collision near a Derbyshire town. Officers were called to the A6 near Whaley Bridge at around 7am on Wednesday (October 2) to reports of a crash near a busy roundabout.
At the scene, they found a red Vauxhall Corsa which had left the carriageway after colliding with the central reservation. Four people have since been taken to hospital for treatment, none of which have injuries that are believed to be life-threatening.
A spokesperson for the force said: “We were called just after 7.05am this morning to reports of a single-car collision on the A6 southbound just after the Whaley Bridge roundabout. A red Vauxhall Corsa had left the carriageway coming to a stop in bushes at the side of the road, after colliding with the central reservation.

“Four people were inside the car and were taken to hospital for treatment, none of the injuries are believed to be life-threatening. The road was closed for several hours but has since reopened.”
The closure of the road was confirmed by Inrix, which warned motorists of congestion through Whaley Bridge on Wednesday morning. A statement from the traffic monitoring service read: "The A6 eastbound is blocked from A5004 Buxton Road (Buxworth) to the A624 (Chapel Milton).
"An accident has closed the road, with congestion building through Whaley Bridge as a result of very slow traffic." The road was reopened at around 10.30am on Wednesday, three hours after the arrival of police.
