Earlier this month, it was revealed that Cartoon Network would be adding a new recruit to the series, which returned to screens last year after going on hiatus in 2005.

Initially, the news wasn't well-received by some fans who insisted the girls already have a fourth sister in Bunny, who appeared in the episode 'Twisted Sister'.

Nonetheless, while fans weren't happy that producers had all but forgotten about Bunny, they were distinctly happier following murmurs that the new Powerpuff Girl would be black.

Rumours of the first black Powerpuff Girl started when it broke that South African singer Toya Delazy would be providing the voice for the character.

And yes, in a welcome bit of diversity, Bliss was introduced as the first black Powerpuff Girl – and fans couldn't get enough.
