After a mixed response to Thor and Thor: The Dark World, Thor: Ragnarok revitalised the character and Hemsworth's desire to play the Norse God, so he's recently been saying the classic 'never say never' to another outing.
"I'd play this character for as long as anyone would let me," he said. "Who knows what the future holds and whether they do prequels and sequels or whatever, I'd be open to anything."
But will he get a chance to make another Thor movie?
Well, first things first, it entirely depends if Thor survives Avengers: Endgame. The epic conclusion to The Infinity Saga is expected to mark the final appearances of the original Avengers crew.
Fortunately for Hemsworth it looks like Iron Man and Captain America are favourites for a heroic death, so it wouldn't be a surprise to see Thor pull through unscathed. Maybe he'll finally go for the head this time around?
One thing in the way of Thor 4 is that none of the other MCU heroes have had a fourth solo movie.
Iron Man, Captain America and Thor have had three movies each, while Ant-Man, Spider-Man and the Guardians of the Galaxy have had two. They've all made appearances in other MCU movies, but not where they're considered the sole lead.
Could Thor be the first to four solo movies?
Thor: Ragnarok was the biggest Thor movie by some distance, taking $854 million worldwide, and it's so well-liked by fans that they wouldn't be against another movie, especially if Valkyrie (who pops up in Endgame) is coming back too.
Arguably the key ingredient with Thor: Ragnarok was director Taika Waititi and, fortunately, Hemsworth revealed in January 2018 that he had spoken with Waititi about a fourth movie.
This happened on New Year's Eve in 2017 after they "gave cheers" to Thor: Ragnarok. "But it also was like, 'What could we do with four? We could do this and this.' We were throwing ideas around," Hemsworth told USA Today.
"But also, just to work together again. That was one of the most enjoyable creative partnerships I’ve ever had."
A promising sign.
And if you want an even bigger one, Tessa Thompson recently said that a "pitch has happened" for another Thor movie. "I don't know how real that intel is, but I hear that the pitch has happened. I think the idea is Taika would come back," she added.
Nothing has been officially confirmed yet for Phase 4, so it could be that Marvel already has Thor 4 ready to announce.
We won't find out that until after Spider-Man: Far From Home's release in July though, meaning that all we can do for now is pray that Thor survives Avengers: Endgame.
