Fox makes grave error by getting stuck between two headstones in a cemetery

The quick brown fox gets its head stuck between two headstones.

This poor animal had to be freed by the RSPCA after making the grave error of getting trapped in a cemetery.

The unfortunate fox had wedged its head between two graves at St Mary Magdelene Church in Leamington Spa, Warwickshire.

The trapped animal was found by a member of the public at about 11am last Thursday – it is believed the fox was stuck at the churchyard since the previous night.

The distressed animal was unable to get out of the tiny gap.

He was eventually freed from the headstones by RSPCA inspectors, who released him back into the wild after a quick check-over revealed no injuries.

RSPCA inspector Georgina McCormick said: ‘I’m not sure how he managed to get there, or how long he had been there for, but he really was in a tight spot.

‘The call came into us at 11am, and as foxes are nocturnal animals I can only imagine he had been there from the night before.

‘I managed to carefully free him and check him over – thankfully he wasn’t injured and so he was released back into the wild.

‘I dread to think what could have happened to him if we hadn’t have been contacted.’
