Foxes Boss Ranieri Proud Of Title Win

Claudio Ranieri has hailed his Leicester players after their incredible ascent to the Premier League title was completed.

Tottenham's failure to win at Ranieri's former club Chelsea handed the Foxes an historic top-flight title victory - their first in the club's 132-year history - with two games to play.

Ranieri described the title win, his first as a manager, as an amazing feeling.

"I'm so proud," Ranieri told LCFC.com. "I'm happy for my players, for the chairman, for the staff at Leicester City, all our fans and the Leicester community. It's an amazing feeling and I'm so happy for everyone."

Leicester started the season as 5000/1 outsiders and Ranieri was the bookmakers' favourite to be the first manager sacked.

But against all odds the Italian's side became the first new top-flight winners since Nottingham Forest in 1978.

"I never expected this when I arrived," he added.

"I'm a pragmatic man, I just wanted to win match after match and help my players to improve week after week.

"Never did I think too much about where it would take us."

Leicester's title victory means Ranieri becomes the eighth different manager to win the Premier League title, with the Foxes becoming the 24th team to win the English top flight.

Ranieri thinks it was the spirit of his players that made Leicester's improbable victory into a reality.

"The players have been fantastic," he added. "Their focus, their determination, their spirit has made this possible. Every game, they fight for each other and I love to see this in my players. They deserve to be champions."
