Frank de Boer is in talks with Crystal Palace as he closes in on being named the Eagles' new manager.

Standard Sport understands the former Ajax and Inter Milan head coach is in discussions with Palace as the 47-year-old looks to return to management following his sacking by Inter late last year.

He was sounded out by West Ham in December 2016 as a potential replacement for Slaven Bilic shortly after Inter had relieved him of his duties after just 85 days in charge of the Serie A side.

After a trophy-laden playing career, De Boer enjoyed similar success after moving into management.

As coach of Ajax, the Dutch side won four consecutive Eredivisie titles under Boer's guidance and he was also part of the coaching team as Netherlands came runners-up at the 2010 World Cup.

De Boer succeeds Sam Allardyce at Selhurst Park, who left his role as Palace manager in May to spend more time with his family.
