Frank de Boer to be unveiled as Crystal Palace’s new manager after agreeing deal over the weekend

Frank de Boer is set to be confirmed as the new Crystal Palace manager.

The 47-year-old reached an agreement with Palace over the weekend and flew into London on Monday to be presented at the club’s training ground.

De Boer was offered the job last week following further talks with Palace chairman Steve Parish.

His appointment will end what has been a difficult search for a new manager for Palace since the club were left stunned by the sudden resignation of Sam Allardyce last month.

The former Holland defender had built an impressive reputation at Ajax, where won four successive Dutch titles during five-and-a-half years there, and impressed Parish with his vision for Palace.

Parish, along with the American major shareholders Josh Harris and David Blitzer, conducted a lengthy interview process after Allardyce quit.

Palace spoke to Mauricio Pellegrino but Parish, who has been on holiday in the Mediterranean, went for De Boer. Pellegrino has now been appointed by Southampton.

De Boer becomes the fifth Palace manager in four years since they were promoted to the Premier League and will lead the club into their fifth successive top-flight campaign.

Palace are yet to confirm the make-up of their coaching staff but Parish has been keen to retain head of performance Ryland Morgans, Sammy Lee, assistant manager under Allardyce, first-team coach Kevin Keen, and goalkeeping coach Martyn Margetson.

It is thought De Boer wants to bring in an assistant with him to add to that set-up.

De Boer will be officially presented at Palace’s Beckenham training group on Monday afternoon when the club will also announce a new shirt sponsorship deal.
