Frankel Foals Go Under The Hammer

Four foals by the legendary Frankel will go under the hammer at Tattersalls in Newmarket on Friday.

The unbeaten colt's first crop of foals was born this year and one, a filly out of Finsceal Beo, set an Irish record when she was sold for £1.45m at Goffs in Ireland last week.

Frankel was retired in 2012 after winning all 14 of his races and Finsceal Beo won the 1,000 Guineas in England and Ireland in 2007.

The breeding of Friday's quartet is just as strong but Tattersalls marketing director Jimmy George said it was not possible to even speculate what they might be sold for - the European record sits at just under £2m.

The foals are being sold just a few miles from where Frankel stands at the Banstead Manor Stud.

“It is very hard to predict prices but obviously Frankel was probably the best racehorse we will ever see so his first crop are eagerly anticipated," George said earlier this month.

“The first crop of Frankel’s foals was always going to create a lot of interest and we would expect people to be coming to the sale from all over the world.”

Three of the four foals are colts, a son of Fillies' Mile winner Red Bloom, a half-brother to stakes winners Swiss Diva, Swiss Dream and Swiss Spirit, and a son of Pretty Polly Stakes winner Dorcas Lane.

The filly was consigned by Norelands and is out of Group 3-placed Kirinda from the family of sprinter Rocky Ground.
