Fraudster steals five-figure sum from Inverurie property as police seek man with ponytail

Police in Inverurie are appealing for information after a five-figure sum of cash was stolen as a result of an online fraud.

The incident, which is believed to be linked to a cyber crime, saw the man attend a property on Princes Street where he "collected a bag" at around 5pm on Tuesday, August 13.

He then went on to walk to Harlaw Road in the general direction of Constitution Street.

The man is described as being white, around 5ft 10ins in height and was wearing all black clothing. He also had fair/blonde hair which was worn in a ponytail.

Enquiries are currently ongoing and officers are appealing for the man described above, or anyone with information, to get in touch.

Detective Sergeant Dave Williamson said: "The impact of this type of crime on the victims can be substantial and long lasting. It is imperative that we track down those responsible and bring them to justice.

"If you saw the man described, or have private CCTV or dashcam footage from the area, please contact us as soon as possible. Any information you have, no matter how small it may seem, could make a difference to our investigation.
