Today, LancsLive reported Umar Mahmood died in a horror smash on Chain Caul Way in Preston on Tuesday, September 10. The 18-year-old had suffered serious injuries and was in a critical condition in hospital after an Audi A3 Sport left the carriageway and collided with trees.

As an ex-pupil of Penwortham Priory Academy, the school's Principal paid tribute to Umar earlier today, saying he "was a bright, studious and well-loved member of our school community". Umar appeared in the first series of Freddie Flintoff's Field of Dreams, a BBC documentary showing the former cricketer heading to his hometown of Preston and creating a new cricket team with promising teens.
