Free activities at seven Surrey leisure centres this weekend and one even has a Christmas market
A company who operates leisure centres across Surrey is offering a wide range of free activities this weekend as part of a drive to get more people active.
Better, who operate leisure centres in Horley, Leatherhead, Epsom, Tadworth, Dorking and Redhill, are holding an open weekend this Saturday and Sunday (November 23/24).
There will be teaser sessions available in gyms, fitness centres and swimming pools across the weekend with the company hoping this initiative will encourage residents of all ages to take part in activities they may not have tried before.

Different venues will be offering different activities, but everything on offer will either be free of charge or at a greatly reduced price. Day passes for the annual Open Weekend can be booked by visiting Better's open weekend page here.
James Brackenborough, GLL Partnership Manager commented: "Better believes in giving back to the community and our Open Weekends are a great way for us to do this... They are always extremely well attended and fantastic fun, so we urge as many people as possible to come along and see what’s on offer."
At Horley Leisure Centre, alongside an array of fitness classes and kids’ taster swimming lessons, the centre will also see the return of their ever-popular Christmas market. Over fifty local businesses will be running stalls, such as Ditch Brisket, Simply Crumble, Next Phase Coffee, Henius Apparel, Buttercupbakers, Icon Creations, Smallfield Flower Farm and many more.
Not only this, there will also be appearances from community groups such as Horley Men’s Shed and Horley Food Bank and performances from local singers. Entertainment will be provided for children by these groups as well as craft tables and face painting stands.
Another leisure centre part of the open weekend is the newly-renovated Leatherhead Leisure Centre. The leisure centre only reopened on November 18 after a £1.55million refurbishment which provided the leisure centre with new state-of-the-art gym and fitness studios.
The new 800-square-metre gym includes more than 100 Technogym cardiovascular, resistance and pure strength machines, perfect for all types of cardio and weight training exercises. Additionally, there is now three studios which are purpose-built for a wide range of fitness classes, newly refurbished men's and women's changing rooms and a new 'dwell' zone for relaxing before and after a workout.
