Free and affordable family-friendly activities to enjoy in Coventry this Christmas
Many of the city's most popular attractions are preparing for a 'festive season to remember' with a range of free and affordable family-friendly events. Venues such as Coombe Abbey and Coventry Transport Museum have unveiled their Christmas activities as part of Visit Coventry's 'Love Coventry this Christmas' initiative.
Visit Coventry will be hosting a free Young Explorers trail. Young children can pick up a guide from the Coventry Visitor Information Centre and explore some popular city centre attractions, finding 10 answers to win an exclusive Coventry Young Explorers badge.

Herbert Art Gallery
The art gallery is inviting young people to express their creative spark and get involved in singalongs and story time with a Sensory Stories and Rhymes Christmas Story Special on December 10 and a Santa sing-along special on December 17. The price is £1.50, while adults go free.
In addition, the Herbert will host Playful Paper Winter Crafts on December 27, 28, and 30, where visitors can create soft snowy paper snowflakes and colourful paper polar bears. The price is £2.50 admission or free for under 3s.
Coventry Transport Museum
The Vintage Sleigh Ride has returned to the museum, giving families the chance to embark on a winter adventure pulled by two trust reindeer to Santa's grotto until Monday, December 23. Tickets for one child and two adults start at £10.
The museum is also inviting visitors of all ages to discover the physical forces and engineering feats involved in the science behind the Sleigh with Warwick Manufacturing Group (WMG) STEM expert Phil Jemmett on Friday, December 6.
The Belgrade Theatre
The Belgrade Theatre's panto for 2024 is the classic Dick Whittington, with organisers saying it will be 'jam-packed' with festive fun, magical mayhem, and 'Christmas sparkle' until January 4. The theatre is also inviting families to a stage adaptation of Raymond Briggs' much-loved book, Father Christmas, on show from December 5 to December 29.
The Albany Theatre
The Albany Theatre in Earlsdon will host Father Christmas and Friends on November 30. Visitors will enjoy a 45-minute interactive family show. Afterward, each child will meet Father Christmas and receive a specially wrapped present.
Alice in Wonderland will be this year's in-house Christmas production, with shows from December 7 to December 29, while its Community Pantomime from January 4 to 12 adapts Sleeping Beauty for the panto stage.
Planet Ice
Planet Ice will present Aladdin on Ice at Coventry Skydome on December 3. Tickets are £9.50, and matinee and evening shows are available. The show features amateur local skaters who have honed their skills through Planet Ice's Learn to Skate programme, providing audiences with a truly memorable adaptation of the timeless story.
