Free ice cream will be given out in Swindon next month.

Ben & Jerry’s is bringing back its annual tradition of offering scoops of ice cream on the house as a way of thanking customers for their support.

Anyone interested in this event can visit the Empire Cinema complex in Greenbridge on April 3 to sample different flavours as many times as they like, from classics like Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough to new additions like Lights Caramel Action.

The company is setting its sights on a new, all-time goal to make this Free Cone Day the biggest and best ever with a goal to serve well over a million Fairtrade scoops globally.

This day dates back to when the ice cream makers from Vermont in the United States of America set up shop in 1979 and marked the end of their first year in business by offering their products to the community for free.

A spokesman said: “Fast forward over 40 years and the intention hasn’t changed one bit. The company has grown, now in 35 countries. The day is still a thanks, still about fans.

“So, mark your calendars and plan to bring your friends, family, and loved ones to help celebrate this monumental occasion.“
