A new takeaway coming to Leicester might not be big news, but when Brgr Lab opens its doors for the first time on Tuesday evening (October 1), the kitchen will be doling out free burgers to the first 200 people to show up.

The brand, founded in Coventry four years ago, will be launching its second restaurant in Leicester's Braunstone Gate. Its owners have also revealed they are considering creating another branch in Leicester at a later date, too.

The new takeaway is taking over the former Jack Peri Chicken and Pizza store in the busy shopping street. Free burgers will be on offer from 5pm until 7pm - or until all 200 burgers have been claimed.

The company owners said: "Leicester is a fantastic city with a lot to offer, and we’re thrilled to be a part of its incredible food culture. We’re excited to bring our fresh, high-quality burgers to Braunstone Gate and we have even bigger plans for the future, with potential for a second location in the city centre."

The company received a Restaurant of the Year award nomination within a year of opening in 2020. It is also planning to expand into Birmingham, London and Sheffield.

The group added: "Brgr Lab, which quickly became a favourite in Coventry after opening in 2020, has earned rave reviews for its unique take on burgers and fresh ingredients. Earlier this year, Brgr Lab participated in the International Franchise Show, where the overwhelming interest they received exceeded expectations.

The owners said they were drawn to "the city's vibrant dining scene and cultural diversity" as "key factors" in their decision to open here.
