A Liverpool woman is hoping to see hundreds cross the finish line at the city’s upcoming BTR Half Marathon. The race organisation has teamed up with Barry’s to deliver dedicated classes to help athletes be in the best shape possible ahead of the Sunday, March 23 event.

As part of the partnership, expert trainer Jess Brady will deliver a series of free community classes to enable participants to experience the red room on the 5th floor of department store Flannels for themselves.

The race training programme is scheduled weekly at 11.30am on Sundays from January 26 to March 16 in the city centre. Race participants will be notified with sign-ups for complimentary community classes at Barry’s Liverpool.

Jess said: "Here at Barry's, we like to say this is the best workout in the world. We work hard, have fun, find your strength, and we always do our best.

"We know that BTR have the same outlook there. We will be doing total body - working all of the body. We want to be using them muscles and supporting those joints, which is so important for running. We will be on the treadmills focusing on endurance, up-hill runs and you can't forgot about sprints too."

The BTR Liverpool race and fun run portfolio attracts around 20,000 entries every year, with participants spanning both ends of the spectrum -from absolute beginners to vastly experienced marathon runners.

Alan Rothwell, Race Director at BTR Liverpool, said: “BTR Liverpool hosts a diverse and exciting range of fun runs, road races, and endurance events for all abilities while covering a range of distances. Welcoming Barry’s Liverpool on board as Official Training Partner 2025 is going to be a fantastic addition to our event offer.

“Professional guidance and support will be available for runners who are keen to increase their fitness, race time, or distance."

Sandy Macaskill, co-founder of Barry’s UK, added: “Our signature workout and philosophy hasn’t changed since we opened our first studio in LA in 1998 – because it works. The endurance and mental stamina you get from a Barry’s class gives you the tools to take on anything you set your mind to.

“It helps you build resilience and confidence, and most importantly, it’s fun. This is why our clients in Liverpool come back time and time again. Our community here is the most important thing to us, a value that we share with BTR Liverpool.”
