A diver off the Victoria coast ran into a “brave” decorator crab who delivered a dramatic-looking reaction to her appearance close by.
Freediver and keen photographer Jules Casey is based on the Mornington Peninsula, which is on the shores of Port Phillip Bay, Victoria.
This footage, shared to Instagram on July 15, shows the decorator crab turn swiftly, and raise its claws as Casey approaches. As Casey swims around the crab it stays on high alert, moving as she does.
In her caption for the footage, Casey wrote, “this fancy looking decorator crab is trying to appear huge and intimidating,” and jokingly added, “It worked, I was terrified & quickly moved on… I can just imagine the story he’s telling his mates.”
