French President Announces COVID-19 Lockdown for Schools Across the Country

French President Emmanuel Macron announced a nationwide closure of school for at least three weeks, in a bid to fight rising COVID-19 cases.

In a live address on March 31, President Macron said schools across the country would transition to remote learning from April 5.

According to local news reports the number of COVID-19 cases in France doubled since February “with the number of patients in intensive care units surpassing 5,000 on Tuesday.”
