French Winegrowers Set Fires Among Vines to Fight Effects of Frost

Winegrowers in Burgundy, France, set fires in their fields on April 14, to counteract the effects of frost on their vines as a cold front swept the area.

Vitisphere reported on the action undertaken by growers in Chassagne-Montrachet. It added that another night of subzero temperatures, into April 15, took a number of winemakers by surprise, and that they feared damage to their crop. Credit: Ju Berno via Storyful
