British Transport Police have launched a probe after a teenage girl was seriously injured on a Glasgow to Edinburgh train.

Officers say the 15-year-old was injured during an incident of anti-social behaviour, and are appealing for information on a man who they believe can help with their inquiries.

The girl was travelling onboard the 9.23pm Glasgow Queen Street to Edinburgh Waverley rail service on Monday 19 July last year.

Officers have today released an image of a person they believe may be able to assist them with their enquiries in relation to the attack.

The image shows a man with short hair wearing a tracksuit and a orange Hi Vis vest.

Anyone who recognises the man, or who has any information that will assist officers with their investigation is asked to contact BTP by texting 61016 or calling 0800 40 50 40 quoting reference 2100052828.

Alternatively, Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously on 0800 555 111
