Fresh hope is on the horizon for action to finally be taken at a notorious junction on the A5 near Nuneaton. For years the Woodford Lane junction has been at the centre of tragic deaths and serious accidents.

New Nuneaton MP Jodie Gosling told CoventryLive that discussions are underway about signalising the junction. She is acutely aware of the need for safety measures to be taken.

It is something that has been long talked about but the MP, whose area covers Hartshill, said she is hopeful that there will finally be some action soon. Several options have been looked at in the past and the latest plan is for the junction to be signalised with traffic lights.

She admits that it will not be in the very immediate future, but is positive that there is 'movement' on it.

"I think we have some movement on the Woodford Lane and the safety of the junction," she said. "Everyone knows about the devastation that has been caused there.

"I think the scheme is in place for traffic lights there, it is not quite there yet but at least there is movement." Discussions are ongoing with National Highways about the proposal.
