Good evening. The Tories claimed that Labour’s main economic policy was “in tatters” after Rachel Reeves scrapped the party’s flagship plan to spend £28 billion a year on green investment. We have the latest from Westminster, as Nadine Dorries quit as an MP shortly before Boris Johnson’s resignation honours list was published.

Johnson’s resignation honours list published

Boris Johnson’s long-awaited resignation honours list has been released, with the former prime minister handing peerages to former London mayoral candidate Shaun Bailey and Tees Valley mayor Ben Houchen.

Former cabinet ministers Jacob Rees-Mogg and Priti Patel were given a knighthood and a damehood respectively.

Nadine Dorries announced that she is standing down as a Tory MP with immediate effect.

Her decision means there will be a by-election in her Mid Bedfordshire constituency. You can follow the latest news from Westminster on our Politics live blog.

It comes as Labour’s shadow chancellor said the party could no longer commit to its green investment figure from day one of a Labour government because of economic uncertainty and would instead look to “ramp up” investment every year with the aim of eventually hitting £28 billion.

Matt Oliver and Melissa Lawford explain why the eye-watering cost of Labour’s green pledge didn’t add up.
