David Harbour has proved that he's a man of his word, just like his Stranger Things character, Jim Hopper.

The US actor, 42, hijacked a student’s yearbook photo shoot after he promised to pose with her if her Twitter request reached 25,000 retweets.

Twitter-user Damaris Fregoso, a California high school student, reached out to Harbour in October, tweeting: “@DavidKHarbour how many retweets for you take my senior photos with me?”

Harbour replied: “25k. And I get to wear the school sweatshirt and hold a trombone.”

The post, which was also shared by Harbour’s Stranger Things co-star Noah Schnapp, went viral and was retweeted more than 29,000 times.

Harbour stuck to his promise and visited Ms Fregoso’s high school where he donned a sweatshirt and posed with a trombone.

The actor shared the images on Instagram, writing: “Voted most likely to hijack someone’s high school senior photos 24 years later.

“Many thanks to @postydamaris and her kind family and @iamtommyg photography for making a dream come true and proving my high school classmates right!!”

Ms Fregoso shared a video of their first meeting, with Harbour asking: “Hey what’s up? Nice to meet you. This is so hilarious.”

Harbour also invited Ms Fregoso to the Netflix headquarters in Los Angeles along with her five-year-old nephew.

She later thanked fans for rallying behind her request, tweeting: “Once again I wanna thank everyone from the bottom of my heart! I would’ve never met David if it wasn't for you who rt’ed!

“It's still hard to believe that I met him, but I thank you, for the continuous love and support on all my social medias! Y’all are too sweet! much love xoxo.”
