Frightened Feline Falls Down Frozen Dam During Indiana Rescue

A cat, known as Mr. Vanjie, is safe after sliding down a frozen dam in Huntington County, Indiana, on Wednesday, January 16 and being caught by a rescuer.

Two Army Corps engineers and personnel from the Huntington County Sheriff’s Office responded to a spillway on State Road 5 after a fisherman reported a cat stuck above the dam. After shutting off the water, the engineers launched a boat with the hope of coaxing the frightened feline down, according to law enforcement.

After the boat arrived, the cat was able to slide down the icy dam, landing safely in the hands of his rescuers. The cat’s owner later posted in response to the Sheriff’s Department, thanking the officers and revealing Mr. Vanjie had been missing for two weeks.
