Fuel spillage shuts road as police warn 'avoid the area'

A busy roundabout is currently closed after reports of a fuel spillage. The incident occurred between Princess Way and Crosby Road South, next to the Seaforth flyover, at around 9.25pm this evening, Friday, August 23.

Police have closed off the road while the incident is dealt with. A statement for Merseyside Police said: "A road closure is currently in place at the roundabout on Princess Way and Crosby Road South, next to the Seaforth flyover, following a fuel spillage this evening, Friday 23 August.

"We received a report at around 9.25pm that a lorry was leaking fuel and emergency services attended the scene to close the road for the safety of motorists. Please avoid the area while the incident is dealt with and we thank you for your patience."
