Fugitive Mexican governor arrested in Italy

Police in Italy have arrested the former governor of the Mexican state of Tamaulipas.

Tomás Yarrington, had been on the run for the past five years.

He is accused of accepting millions of dollars in bribes from drug cartels.

The 59-year-old allegedly turned a blind eye to the gangs activities.

He looks set to be extradited within days.

Yarrington is also wanted in the United States.

The former politician says the accusations against him are politically motivated.
