Fulham are reportedly planning to use funds generated from the sale of Aleksandar Mitrovic to sign Everton winger Demarai Gray.

The 27-year-old hasn’t been involved in any of the Toffees’ pre-season friendlies and wasn’t in the squad for their 1-0 defeat to Fulham last Saturday.

Sean Dyche was asked in a recent interview why Gray hadn’t been involved, and he claimed it was due to a lack of match fitness.

This is unlikely, however, considering he made five appearances for Jamaica in the Gold Cup last month, scoring two goals and making two assists.

It seems certain Gray isn’t in Dyche’s plans, with Everton already on the lookout for replacement options. They have already signed Jack Harrison on a season-long loan, but Wilfried Gnonto is considered to be their main target.

The Italy international has missed Leeds’ last two games as he attempts to force through a move to Goodison Park.

The Yorkshire club have publicly said that Gnonto is ‘not for sale.’ However, behind the scenes, there is a belief that a deal can be struck for around £30m.

If Everton are successful in signing a new winger Gray will be allowed to leave, and it is Fulham who are leading the charge for his signature.

Fulham to use Mitrovic funds for Gray deal

According to the Daily Mail, Fulham will use the funds from the sale of Mitrovic to sign Gray this summer.

The Serbian striker has been linked with a departure from Craven Cottage for some time. There have even been claims he would refuse to play for the London side, but he did make a substitute appearance against Everton last weekend.

Several Saudi clubs are in the race for Mitrovic and now, Al Hilal have reportedly made an offer of £46m for him.

Marco Silva will need to bring in players with an eye for goal to compensate for his departure and seems to have settled on Gray as a target.

Since joining Everton in 2021, the former Leicester man has made 75 appearances across all competitions, scoring 12 goals and making six assists.

Gray is keen on the move and reports suggest Everton and Fulham have already reached a ‘verbal agreement’ for a fee of £12m. Personal terms have also been agreed on by the winger.

With that in mind, Gray’s switch to Fulham is now resting on Everton signing a replacement and Mitrovic sealing a move to Al Hilal.
