More than 20 roads are closed across Nottinghamshire as flooding continues after a bout of wet and cold weather. Nottinghamshire County Council has listed the 23 routes in the county that have been shut by newly-formed pools of water and overflowing rivers, as of 12.15pm on Wednesday, January 8.

A spokesperson for the county council warned motorists to respect the closures, saying: "We cannot emphasise enough that if you see a road closure sign, please do not ignore this. We put road closures in place for your safety.

"Not only does flood water pose a danger because you don't know how deep it is and what is underneath the water, but driving through it can also have a big impact on properties and businesses as bow waves caused by vehicles can push flood water inside."
