Full list of Coventry Heritage Open Days places you can visit for free
Members of the public will be able to visit Coventry attractions for free as the city celebrates Heritage Open Days. From Friday, September 6 to Sunday, September 15, over 40 venues will be opening their doors and allowing the public to learn about Coventry’s rich history, heritage and culture through free events, tours and activities.
Highlights of the programme include hearing the story of what happened to Coventry Cathedral during the Blitz from a costumed WWII fireman, learning about the conservation of archives and objects at the Herbert Art Gallery, and the chance to see a patchwork exhibition by Jane Cobbett at Russell’s Garden Centre.
Councillor Abdul Salam Khan, Deputy Leader of Coventry City Council and Cabinet Member for Events said: “Our city has proudly supported Heritage Open Days since its inception 30 years ago, and we are delighted to be part of this event once again.

“We take great pride in calling Coventry our home and it really does have so much to offer. From Daimler Powerhouse to the Lunt Roman Fort, we hope you will discover new places or expand your knowledge about our wonderful city.
“Best of all, the venues and events that are part of programme offer free entry during Heritage Open Days.”
In keeping with this year’s theme of ‘Routes, Networks and Connections’, two Heritage and History Led Cycle Rides will take place during the festival. The first one takes place in Coundon on Saturday, September 7 and the second in Binley on Saturday, September 14. Members of the public are invited to embark on a trail using Coventry’s new cycleways, stopping along the way at buildings of interest and local history sites.
Heritage Open Days is celebrated each year, thanks to the thousands of volunteers and organisations across the country who take part. After starting in 1994, this year the event celebrates its 30th anniversary.
