Full list of Dobbies stores set to close before Christmas including North East branch

Dobbies is set to close a number of stores before Christmas - including one in the North East.

The garden centre chain previously announced it would close 17 stores before the end of the year, including 11 larger sites and six of its smaller Little Dobbies stores, as part of a restructuring plan. One of the locations that was earmarked for closure, Antrim, will no longer be shutting after negotiations with the landlord.

However all six Little Dobbies have now closed, while six of the bigger Dobbies stores all have proposed closure dates, according to Gardenforum. The remaining four larger Dobbie sites are all reportedly holding closing down sales.

A spokesperson for Dobbies previously said: "Subject to the restructuring plan being successfully approved, we expect the affected sites to cease trading by the end of the year. Thereafter, Dobbies will operate 60 stores and continue to play a key role in the market, working constructively with stakeholders and suppliers, and having an active and committed role in the communities in which it’s based."

The garden centre chain, which was bought by investment firm Ares Management last year, fell to a £105.2m pre-tax loss in the year to March 2023, against a £7m loss a year earlier, according to its most-recently filed company accounts, reports the Mirror.
